Zandra Rhodes Handbags launches Footwear Collection
When Zandra Rhodes announced she would be bringing out a footwear collection to accompany her successful line of handbags, it's safe to say we where excited. When we got invited to the launch, the excitement was on another level. Zandra Rhodes is a legend in the industry, at 73 years old, and still looking IN.cred.ible, she is still keeping her creative streak and her brand name alive and kicking. When we where invited to go to her penthouse and drink champagne with her... well. We die.
The collection featured everything from strappy neon mary-janes to beautiful pearly flats. Mentally, I've already ordered everything, realistically the new collection will be on the site in the few months.
The collection of flats is to die for, the pastel colored pumps and the rose printed rock-abilly style pointed flats are easy to wear, and easy to chuck on for instant London style. Zandra showcased printed espadrille booties and Prada-esque sandals.
The event was held at The Fashion and Textile Museum a stones throw away form the hustle and bustle of London Bridge. The museum doubles as the designers home (literally) with a secret passage leading the way to her penthouse and bedrooms. We saw her garments displayed proudly on the way up to the event showroom, and marveled over huge mosaic mirrors and intricate prints, all from the designer herself.
We snuck through her studio and set out eyes upon some top-secret designs, and followed the small winding staircase up to the penthouse. And. Wow.
I mean, what do yo think Zandra Rhodes house will look like? Just stunning, a huge, warm, colorful open space influenced by Indian, Thai and Africa design. We sipped champagne and made friends with fellow fashion insiders over an array of martini glazed prawns, Thai fishcakes and mushroom and goats cheese canapes. We looked over the sights of London, over the shard, all whilst documenting every amazing sight in the penthouse and collection, soaked up the sun and thought: Amaze.
